Why Water Pump Maintenance Matters

Like any mechanical system, water pumps experience wear over time. Without regular servicing, small issues can quickly escalate into major repairs or complete pump failure.

Routine water pump maintenance helps to:

Maintain steady water pressure
Prevent unexpected pump breakdowns
Extend the lifespan of your pump
Improve energy efficiency
Protect connected plumbing, appliances, and fittings

Regular servicing is especially important for properties relying on pumps for daily water use, such as lifestyle blocks, rural homes, and properties using tank or bore water.

What’s Included in Our Pump Maintenance Plan?

We tailor each maintenance visit to suit your pump type and water source. A standard service includes:

Inspection of pump casing, seals, and pipework
Pressure and flow rate testing
Cleaning or replacement of filters
Checking for leaks, corrosion, or unusual noises
Priming and performance checks
Advice on future servicing or upgrades

If we spot any worn or at-risk parts, we’ll let you know and recommend suitable replacements before they become a problem.

Suitable for All Pump Types

Our maintenance services cover a wide range of water pump systems, including:

Pressure pumps for household water supply
Jet pumps for shallow tanks
Submersible pumps
Multistage pumps for large properties or irrigation
Variable speed drive pumps for stable pressure
Water tank systems and changeover valves

Whether you rely on town supply or rural tanks, we’ll keep your system working reliably and efficiently.

How Often Should a Pump Be Serviced?

We recommend having your pump professionally serviced every 12 months. For rural setups or properties with high water demand, more frequent checks may be beneficial. Seasonal changes, especially after dry periods or heavy rainfall, can also affect performance and warrant a check-up.

Our team can set up a maintenance schedule that fits your system and usage, so you never have to worry about remembering when it’s due.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Citywide Plumbing provides a reliable, friendly, honest and trustworthy service. My relationship with them extends back decades. While at the more expensive end of the plumbing services scale, the quality and consistency of their work is worth paying more for. I highly recommend them for all your plumbing needs.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I would give 6 stars if I could!
We had a fault with our waste water pump and the control switch and called a number of plumbers, all of whom referred us to Citywide Plumbing. They were on the scene within 20 minutes and had given us a breakdown of what went wrong and how they'd fix it. They provided a quote the next day and helped us work with our insurance. Once the parts had arrived Sean got to work and did an excellent job helping us get our plumbing in order.
Josh and Sean were a pleasure to deal with from the get go and were professional, courteous and were very knowledgeable - making them an expert in what they do.
Wishing everybody at Citywide plumbing all the best, you guys rock!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Fantastic service. Pump started making some noise, I ignored it for a couple of weeks and the organised the team to come and look at it a couple days later. Pump died completely that evening, they came out the following morning to rescue us with a loan pump. Took a look at the old one and showed it was done, installed a new one for me. Highly recommend the Citywide team.
